Message Nathan Gamble
'HANK' premieres Wednesday, September 30th on ABC
Hello, again, Nathan here. Sorry, but I have been so busy filming a new sitcom starring Kelsey Grammer I haven't had a chance to update you all on what's going on . The new show is called Hank and it will be on ABC on Wednesday nights. I am happy to say I play his son Henry. I have a regular job . I am very happy about that - no auditions for a while! I had to move to California with my family to do this job so it has been crazy. Moving and getting set up on a new TV show has kept me really busy. I really enjoy working with Sideshow Bob - I mean Kelsey Grammer - ha! He really is a great guy and what an amazing talent. My mom on the show was my mom in Batman - Melinda Megraw. So it was nice that I knew her a little when I went to work. She had us over for a bbq this weekend. It was so nice. She said Gary Oldman lives down the street and they are friends. He might come watch the show - that'd be cool.
Doing a TV show is so different than a movie. It is really harder than you think. We are doing the show in front of a live studio audience .It has been like doing a theater show every week. It is very fast-paced - and the script changes every day! But I am learning a lot from a very talented cast and am really enjoying it. Can't wait for the premiere on September 30th!
My movie THE HOLE will be at the Toronto film festival and recently won an award at the Venice film festival. Very happy to hear that. I just wish I could have been there to see it.
I get every 4th week off from work . We went to Disneyland this last hiatus. I loved that. Now that I am settled in I will try to keep up on my web site more often.
Oh, FYI, I really like the new movie 9 that just came out. It is one of my favorite movies of the year.
See ya!
More News from 'THE HOLE'
Hello!
Since the Christmas break we have been working very hard on the picture- six days a week, pretty much all day. But it's a blast. I've got to do some action stuff (but they won't let me do my own stunts- shoot!) and even get to watch the "dailies" with Joe which is very cool. Makes me feel like a director and all! So far the picture looks awesomely creepy!... Two weekends ago my best friends from church came to visit me. We went to the pool and played video games almost non-stop for 24 hours!
It really is nice filming in Vancouver. So close to home. It is about 3-and-a-half hours from my house. This last weekend the rest of my family came up and we had a great time checking out the island here in Vancouver. It was cool looking at all the food at the market. We bought King crab (my favorite) and smoked salmon for dinner. We celebrated my sister and my birthday together. She got a new camera and cell phone and I got an Xbox 360. So cool! I have been wanting one for a long time. I get to take it with me when I am working.
Sunday afternoon we, of course, had a Super Bowl party with the other 'Yanks' from the cast along with my dad and grandparents. What's weird is in Canada you don't get to watch the American commercials- good thing the game was so good! ...The movie is almost about to wrap here in Vancouver so next time you hear from me it will be from sunny LA. Well, back to running from my fears- you'll have to see the movie to know what THAT means! See ya!
Christmas Break
Seattle, Washington
Hey there!
I had a fantastic Christmas with my family and friends at home. Along with getting to hang out with my friends, the most awesome part of it was it SNOWED! And it hardly ever snows in Seattle! We had a blast making a really cool snow fort- it was about 6 feet tall and had an actual roof. The best part of the snow was the extreme sledding- that was so cool. But, of course, my mom thought it was too dangerous- what’s new? (Love you, mom!) Then again about the first trip down this hill I did fall out and scrape some skin off my face- good thing I had a few weeks before the movie started back up…
Christmas was awesome as I got a bunch of cool Lego sets, great movies (Indy 4, Iron Man) excellent WII games (Star Wars Force Unleash, Lego Indiana Jones, WII Music) and, of course, the best Christmas gift- hi-powered Nerf guns! On Christmas Day the whole family and a bunch of friends went and saw Marley and Me- that was tight. My little sister was very sad at the film and said to me, “thanks for ruining my Christmas, Nathan!” Wow- I guess it was less upsetting for her to watch the end of the Mist then Marley. Judging from the sniffling in the theatre, I think a lot of people are more attached to dogs then people- ha! The one Christmas gift I didn’t get was, speaking of dogs, a dog. I really want a Beagle some day…So, it’s back to work on Jan 12- which is curiously enough, my birthday…Hope you all had a great Christmas. Stay tuned for more Hole updates!
The Hole, Week 2
Vancouver, British Columbia
Hey!
Well we started filming the movie this week and I am working A LOT! It is a six day a week shoot with only Sunday off- but I love it. Like I told you, the cast is very nice and Joe Dante, the director, is very cool. Did I tell you another actress in the movie, Haley Bennett, was also in Marley and Me? What a coincidence, eh? I've got to meet everyone in the crew and I like to learn all their names and find out what they do. Movies take an awful lot of people and so many of them are behind the scenes. My dad, an actor, too, always says, "make friends with the light and sound guys," for obvious reasons, eh? Ha!
Some of my grandparents came up to visit the set this week so that has been fun. My grandpa is a kick as he appreciates my jokes (something my mom doesn't get- mom's, what are you gonna do? Ha!) Grandpa likes this movie set as every afternoon they have a "candy break" and does he ever like his sweets! Did I say yet it has been snowing up here for a few days? It has- and it's fun! Made a snowman on the set and tossed a few snowballs around, too...Well one more long day of shooting (the movie is gonna be sooo cool!) and then it is off for the Christmas break. Speaking of Christmas, I hope you all have an AWESOME one!
The Hole, Week 1
Vancouver, British Columbia
Hey there!
Well, I've been working on my next movie, The Hole, for about a week now and I am having a great time! The cast and crew are very nice. Vancouver is a very beautiful city- sure it has rained about every day but since I am from Seattle the rain is no big deal to me. Highlights here so far have been:
-Dinner with the cast and crew- and the GIANT shrimp (as big as my hand!) that we had to eat. I love shrimp!
-My teacher on the set turns out to be the SAME teacher I had in Toronto two years ago when I was filming Runaway! That's cool 'cause I don't have to "break in" a new teacher.
-Helping the director, Joe Dante, pick out my "doubles" for filming. That was fun. Joe is a fun guy who obviously likes working with kids.
-Joe also gave me a present- a DVD collection of a show he did called "Eerie, Indiana." It has kids in it and it's pretty cool.
-My Dad and little sister came up last Friday and surprised us- which was awesome. We had a blast over the weekend- especially at the pool (my sister’s hair- that is blonde- turned green from it!) and at the Science Center in Vancouver which is AMAZING. Lot's of cool stuff to see and do- like a computer that aged my face so I looked 70 years old- I'm gonna have REALLY big ears!
- My mom had a tree sent to our room at the hotel because it is almost
Christmas and my mom wanted me to have a festive tree in our room while
we are there. It was smaller than we thought it would be. Can you say
Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. Oh well, she tried.
- I am enjoying filming with my movie brother Chris Massoglia. We both
like talking football and playing catch. He has been acting since he was 10 so for 6
years. He is a pro!
Well, I'll check in again next week. We start the main filming and I am pumped!
Thanks for reading!
